Austin Soundwaves Woodwinds Instructor

We focus on arts education for youth, and entrepreneurial training for adults, thereby empowering entire families to thrive and give back to the community.
The Hispanic Alliance has partnered with the Austin community over the past seven years to expand access to education and spur innovation amongst schools, nonprofits, and businesses. In addition to collaborative events throughout the year, we currently operate three year-long programs, Austin Soundwaves, Emprendedor U, and OLEH.
This position is for Austin Soundwaves, an l Sistem-inspired music education program that helps more than 300 youth in grades 1-12 develop skills to support creative, social, and academic success. 100% of Austin Soundwaves students have graduated high school and gone on to college.
The Woodwinds Instructor will be expected to teach lessons, sectionals, and assist with band and orchestra classes. The ideal candidate will be an excellent musician and educator, as well as an organized and encouraging mentor to their students. The candidate should be comfortable working with a variety of ages and skill levels, with the ability to adapt to change with a positive attitude. Experience in the Spanish language is helpful.
Primary Duties Include:
Teaching private, paired, or sectional lessons.
Assisting a lead teacher in a band class setting.
Providing mentorship and guidance to students.
Experience teaching beginning-intermediate band students.
Experience working with children from diverse ethnic, economic and cultural backgrounds.
Accomplished instrumental musician.
Bachelor’s degree in music, music education, or related fields.
Willingness and eagerness to work as part of a team.
Ability to work under frequent observation and to receive feedback.
